Camp Adventures

Hey Everyone!
I'm back and am sort of sad to be so. I had a really great time at my last year of camp before my last year of high school. A lot of lasts but also a lot of firsts, including making this blog with best friend, Mackenzie. Here are a couple of pics of what I've been doing for the past week:

I was camped out by Pigeon Lake maybe an hour, hour and a half from where I live. In the center of the lake is a tiny island you can canoe to. A friend and I paddled out together and took some goofy shots standing on a low tree.

A wonderful camp counselor brought us a massive bag of gummy worms, upon request. The bag was eaten in literally fifteen minutes.

The second to last day that I was there we went on a five-mile nature hike. But, because of the weather and the bounteous amount of mosquitoes in the area, our 'nature' hike turned into a street hike. We walked along the street side for two and a half miles. then turned around and walked the whole way back, in the rain. It's safe to say that I have had better hikes. Still, I wouldn't have changed the experience and memories for the world.

Packing

Well, we're off!

Hayley and I will be gone all next week. I will be going on a mission trip while Hayley will be at camp. Do you have any packing advice? I tend to pack everything but the kitchen sink. I will be on a 13 hour drive and am looking for a good book to read. I love history, any ideas? Hayley will be at summer camp. Remember summer camp?! What are your favorite camp memories?
While we're gone check out the websites listed below. See you next week!

Up-and-Coming: "Bomb Girls"

Mackenzie and I have always LOVED period dramas, especially when it involves strong female leads. Bomb Girls is set in the 1940's, World War II era and follows the lives of four very different women working in a Canadian ammunition's factory. Facing the effects of war, personal hardships and discrimination, these women manage a way to persevere through it all and discover their inner strength.

The Red Wreck

Hey,
So the "red of the week" is the one and only RED WRECK (AKA-Mackenzie's car). This car was passed down to her from her relatives, who got into two different accidents while still in their possession. The problems include: a massive dent on driver's side, a dent on the front bumper, the trunk has to be bungee corded down just to stay close, and the lock gets stuck on the driver's side. But the red wreck is a part of her life. It takes her everywhere. Plus, she will always have a good story to tell her kids someday when they ask her what her first car was like.
P.S-She is really hoping to win "worst car" in the yearbook this year :)

Pipe Clamp Bracelets

We're pretty sure that many of you have probably seen these before on etsy or other blogs. It's a super easy upcycling project that anyone can do. All you need is: A pipe clamp(can be purchased at most hardware stores. They all look like metal bands) and a bunch of your favorite linen fabrics.

Steps:

1. Tighten the pipe clamp so it can easily slide on and off the wrist like a bangle

2. Cut out long strips of fabric one inch in width and over two feet in length

3. Start wrapping the fabric around the metal band, layering over the fabric more than once if necessary, until the metal is no longer visible

4. Once you have reached the end of the fabric's length twist it around one last time loosely, then pull the end through the gap and tighten

5. Tuck the little piece of excess into the gap as well

6. DONE!---If wanting the fabric to be permanently on the band then simply use fabric glue to keep down that last excess piece

Our Wisconsin Summer...So Far

Welcome to You, Me, & the Color RED! We are so excited to share with you all a little chunk of our lives.
This is our Wisconsin summer! The day was unbearably humid. The second you stepped outside beads of sweat broke loose. Today we both decided to wear spaghetti-strapped shirts because of the heat.
Mackenzie wore a black floral romper with a form-fitting red skirt over the top. The skirt was purchased from a local farmer’s market. The romper was free of charge from a family friend.
Hayley wore a geometric patterned shirt bought from Forever 21 a while back and paired it with solid colored navy blue shorts with the cuffs rolled up. The teal flats worn are by Madden and were a steal at $13.00.
Today’s “wonder” moment of the day was us actually agreeing on a title background for the blog! But it might change again in the future because we are who we are.

Have a great rest of the day and keep your smile up:)
